Terrace Historic Timeline
1922- The original Terrace Gardens was started by the Wickert brothers, Paul and Robert Wickert.
1932 – The first of two fires struck down the building
1933- Grand Reopening! Now renamed the Michigan’s Wonder Ballroom
1933 – Wickert Brothers were found tragically shot to death
1941 – The U.S. Coast Guard used the facility for four years as barracks during WWII
1947 – The second fire struck and completely destroyed the dancehall
1949 – The new Terrace Gardens reopened with added renovations
1958 – Ten bowling lanes were added into the ballroom, doubling it’s size. The lanes were moved to Holiday Bowl by 1963.
1972 – Outdoor pool was installed
1985 – Terrace Motor Inn and Bluff Golf & Country Club merged to create the Terrace Bay Resort
1988 – Transfer of ownership to Michael, Anthony, Daniel & Jean Pouliot
1993 – Outdoor pool was enclosed and an exercise room and spa were added
1999- A three tiered deck and boardwalk were added to the back of the building to enhance the scenic beauty
2016 – Ownership transferred to Jennifer & Jarred Drown
